DB\VBB\S-Bahn:

Issues all types of tickets EXCEPT weekly tickets.

Validated tickets are valid on: S-Bahn, U-Bahn, Bus, Trams, some ferries & regional trains within the ABC area (but NOT ICE)

Instructions for Use:

1. If there is an advertisement on the screen, touch the screen to select the menu.

2. Touch the multi-flag symbol and choose English (there are six languages). On these machines it is located at the bottom of the screen.

3. Choose your ticket and select pay.

4. The machine accepts coins, notes and some credit cards.

5. The ticket will print and any change will be issued.

6. Validate your ticket before travel. Validators are located next to ticket machines (see left).

Deutsche Bahn (DB) is the German national railway operator; S-Bahn Berlin is a subsiduary of Deutsche Bahn and operates the S-Bahn network within the Berlin ABC area. Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) is the local transport authority for the Berlin-Brandenburg area.

Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) is the local transport authority for the city of Berlin.

Ticket Validation: Tickets MUST be validated before use. Place the ticket in the validator with the top of the ticket facing the machine, printed side up. Validate only once.

If you are caught with an unvalidated ticket or an out of date ticket, you will receive an on the spot €40.00 fine. Plain clothes inspectors are numerous on the S-Bahn or U-Bahn. They will show ID before examining your ticket.
